Smocks and sandals

ASOS smock (here) and sunglasses (similar), KG KURT GEIGER sandals via House of Fraser* (here), SCHOTT NYC jacket (similar), H&M bag (similar)

Hello! My favourite month of the year has finally arrived (99% biased by the fact that it is my 18th birthday on Friday) and I'm celebrating by wearing yet another unflattering dress. Yay smocks. I'll actually be doing a tutorial on how to make your own smock in the next couple weeks when I'm in Danmark with all my patterns/ sewing kit so stay tuned for that!

For me there's always been this debate about whether being stylish (or certainly, an aspect of it) is dressing with your body shape in mind, or completely ignoring it and wearing what you want anyway. I think I've decided I prefer the latter- smocks in the themselves are fairly unflattering, but even more so when you have a larger chest and could genuinely be hiding a (food) baby in your dress- but I like them, and I think there is definitely something liberating in the act of disregarding your natural body lottery and deciding that while everyone else might say something isn't quite right for you, you think it is and so you're going to do it. Even if that means looking like a human tepee.
Paired with pretty snazzy subtly snake-printed mini-heeled sandals and I'd say it's Grandma chic at it's best. Another testament to the post examination period desire to abandon heels and wear comfy clothes.
Weird, I know.

P.S I'm slowly starting to get back into the mindset of writing articles, so keep your eyes peeled and take a peek at some past ones here.

  8. I love that dress and it looks great on you! I think loose fitting clothes can be very flattering and wholly appropriate in summer. People are spending their own money on clothes, they should wear what they want!

  9. I love that dress and I think it looks great on you! I think loose fitting clothes can be very flattering and are wholly appropriate in summer lol. You don't have to show it all to look good. And people are (most of the time) spending their own money on clothes, they should wear what they want!

  12. I love smock dresses and yours is beautiful. Some prefer to dress for their body shape but I find that to restricting and less fun. Gorgeous look Camilla :)

Hey you! How are you today? Your hair looks awesome like that. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I love hearing what you guys think and value every word you write more than you could possibly imagine. With that in mind, I value your constructive criticism too; if you disagree with something I've said, if you think I could have mentioned something else or if you want me to discuss something in the future, I want to know. However, there is a clear difference between constructive criticism and rudeness; the latter will be receive a meet and greet from my delete button. I will find you, and I will lick you; no one wants that, so play nice.
